GitHub Copilot is the AI assistant from GitHub. In the editor it suggests code as you type, answers questions about the open files in a chat panel, and can make edits across several files in agent mode. It works in VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode and others.
On GitHub itself, Copilot can review pull requests, explain code and, with the coding agent, take an assigned issue and open a pull request with its changes for a person to review. Organizations manage access and policies from their GitHub settings.
